Hugh Cruse (2028)

A  lifelong Episcopalian, Hugh has been a part of the St. John’s community since 2004.  Prior to St. John’s, he was raised in a nurturing parish in Wichita Falls, Texas, where his early faith was shaped by the church and fellowship of Young Life in that community, developing an appreciation for Christian formation as an acolyte and a camp volunteer.

Hugh currently serves as a part of the Streaming Ministry and as a middle School Sunday school leader.  He finds great joy in working with the youth, often feeling he learns more from their unfiltered perspectives on faith than they do from him. He has also been an active member through various outreach-related efforts, including serving in the Kairos Ministry and Faith Cafe, and also has served in leadership roles in the past as a stewardship chair and vestry member at St John’s.

Professionally, Hugh is an IT Consultant with Alithya, specializing in healthcare data integration and analytics. He holds a degree in Biology from Emory University, as well as masters degrees in Public Health and Management Information Systems (MIS) from USF. Hugh and his wife, Laura, have three sons: Bennett (at USF), Mason (at FSU), and Rowan (a high school senior with one foot out the door!). They thus have an appreciation for the families making the effort to get to church even when late, pew wrestling, and the youth group at church!

He looks forward to continuing to grow with St. John’s in whatever capacity he is called and is honored to be considered as a candidate for the vestry.
