The Rev. Caroline Devitt

Deacon Caroline Devitt was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, and is a lifelong Episcopalian. She grew up at Church of the Redeemer, where her love for music, liturgy, and the beauty of the sacraments first took root and shaped her call to ministry.

Caroline earned a degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida. She spent a short time in the evangelical world before returning to the Canterbury Trail, where she served on the vestry and as Senior Warden of the Episcopal campus ministry. While still an undergraduate, she began formal discernment for holy orders in the Diocese of Southwest Florida and gained parish leadership experience as Redeemer’s communications assistant. After graduation, she served as Director of Youth Ministries at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tallahassee, developing programs for spiritual formation and community engagement.

In 2022, Church of the Redeemer sponsored her for seminary studies in Austin, Texas, where she completed her Master of Divinity and served in parishes in Round Rock and Houston. She was ordained to the diaconate in December 2024 and, God willing and the people consenting, will be ordained to the priesthood on the Feast of St. Mary, August 15, 2025.

Deacon Caroline is passionate about proclaiming the Gospel, fostering vibrant parish life, and helping others encounter the transforming grace of Christ through Word and Sacrament. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, swimming, making music, cheering on the Florida Gators, and exploring new trails with her dachshund mix, Crouton.
