The Rev. Andrew Lazo

After Bible school in Chicago, he moved to Nashville, TN to work with the acclaimed guitarist Phil Keaggy before takinghis BA (with Honors) in English at the University of California, Davis. He then moved Houston to complete a Masters in Modernist British Literature at Rice University.

He then spent more than a dozen years teaching at the university and high school level before hearing the call to ordained ministry in 2017. Also in 2017, he married Christin, herself an accomplished speaker, teacher, and the author of dozens of books, including the bestselling Family Guide to Narnia

For decades, Andrew has traveled around the world as a C. S. Lewis scholar and speaker, giving talks all over the US as well as in Romania, Oxford, Cambridge, and Belfast. He serves as a Distinguished Lecturer in the Romantic Theology program at Northwind Seminary, where he is also completing his Doctorate. And since 2021, he co-hosts the popular weekly C. S. Lewis podcast Pints with Jack.

From 2019-2022, Andrew studied at Virginia Theological Seminary, and thanks to the pandemic, Andrew and Christin spent much of their time in Sarasota, where Christin grew up and where her family all live. There Andrew served at Church of the Redeemer with Fr. Chris and Mtr. Caroline.

After taking his M.Div (with Honors) from VTS, Andrew served at Church of the Messiah, Winter Garden for three years before coming to St. John’s.

Though raised in no faith, Andrew came to Christ in 1980, and after a long denominational journey, Andrew found a happy home in the Episcopal Church in 2000.

In his free time, he loves to cook, and he and Christin haunt bookstores. They also love to travel and to spend time with friends and with all of the Ditchfield family. Andrew loves documentaries, and watching professional basketball, NASCAR, and the Houston Astros.
