Sunday Service and Event Guidelines

Our services are a celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the more traditional Rite I at 8:00 a.m. and the Holy Eucharist, Rite II (Rite I on the first Sunday of the month), at 10:00 a.m. The 10:00 a.m. service is streamed on Facebook and here on our website. You can also watch Sunday services later on our YouTube channel. They are uploaded following the conclusion of the service each Sunday. While you are there, please subscribe!

Current Safety Procedures (updated 1/1/22)

Effective Sunday, January 2, 2022:

With the Omicron variant of COVID-19 now surging, your parish leadership has revised our guidelines:

1. The Bishop encourages, but does not require, all worshippers to wear a mask, and we will follow his lead. All ministers of the liturgy (clergy, acolytes, vergers, etc.) will be masked, except when addressing the congregation.
2. The “mask only” seating area at St. John’s will be enlarged (and clearly marked) in the church for those members of the congregation who are not fully vaccinated or who prefer to continue social distancing for their own comfort and the safety of their loved ones. Only persons wearing masks may sit in this section.
3. We will continue congregational singing, but only those who are masked should sing.
4. The common cup will be discontinued for the time being.

We recommend that everyone continue to practice safe distancing when entering and leaving the church, and we strongly encourage all parishioners to be vaccinated. In the words of Episcopal Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, “The Bible says you should love your neighbor as yourself. And getting this vaccine…(is one of the) real ways that we can love our neighbor as ourselves. To love our neighbor, and while you’re at it to love yourself.”

We are monitoring data daily, and will update policies rapidly as circumstances evolve. We hope the heightened restrictions are very temporary. Our goal is to ensure that as many people as possible can physically come to church safely and we do not want anyone to feel uncomfortable.

Children’s Sunday School takes place during the 10:00 a.m. service, masks are encouraged. Our nursery is open at the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. services. Please contact Ayana Grady at for more information about ministries for children and youth.
