Richard was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and moved to Tampa in 1978. Richard is a graduate of Duke University (B.A.), Florida State University College of Law (J.D. with honors), and the University of Florida (LLM Taxation). Richard is a partner at Holland & Knight LLP, practicing in the corporate and corporate finance areas.
Richard, a lifelong Episcopalian, has served three previous terms on the Vestry and is a past Senior Warden and Junior Warden. He also served as Stewardship Chairman and as a member of the Board of the St. John’s Foundation. Currently, Richard attends two bible studies and is a lector and chalice bearer.
Richard and his wife, Cindy, joined St. John’s over 35 years ago. They have been married for 45 years and have three children: Charlie (41), Lee (38), and Mike (34), all of whom attended St. John’s Parish Day School and served as acolytes. Each child attributes much of his or her success to the excellent education they received at the school. Richard and Cindy also have six grandchildren.
Richard is past President of Metropolitan Ministries; past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Berkeley Preparatory School; past President of The Florida State University College of Law Alumni Association; past member of the Florida State University College of Law Board of Visitors; past Chairman of The University of Tampa Board of Counselors; past Member of The University of Tampa Board of Trustees; past President of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club; past Board member and officer of The Florida Aquarium; past member of the Board of Governors and Secretary of the Tampa Yacht & Country Club; and past member of the Florida Federal Judicial Nominating Commission.
