Jan Abdoney Kelley has lived in Tampa most of her life. Raised in the Methodist Church, she became a confirmed Episcopalian at Church of the Ascension in Clearwater shortly after she and her husband Rob married in 1985. After moving back to Tampa, Jan and Rob joined St. John’s when their children began attending St. John’s Parish Day School.
Jan has been a member of the St. John’s Altar Guild since 2017 and has served a number of times on the Every Member Canvass team. She served two terms on the St. John’s Parish School Board: first in the early 2000s when her children were in school, serving as board president in 2002; and most recently from 2016-2018. In addition, Jan chaired the Annual Giving Campaign for St. John’s School when the middle school relocated to the Plant Avenue Campus, and she was involved in the Share the Light capital campaign. Jan was also an active volunteer at Berkeley Preparatory School, co-chairing the Shades of Blue silent auction, and served on the H.B. Plant Academic Foundation while her children attended those schools. More recently, she has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the H.B. Plant Museum, serving as President in 2018-2019.
Jan is an attorney in private practice and a former Hillsborough County State Attorney. She and Rob attend the 9:15 a.m. service. They have three children: Robby, Anne, and Sam.
