After 18 years of dedicated service, Jim Armstrong, Director of Operations of St. John’s School and Church, is moving on to a new chapter of his career. We are grateful for Jim’s long history as a pivotal part of St. John’s Parish and wish him all the best!
Although we are sorry to see Jim go, we are pleased to announce that Michael Matthews will be joining the staff as Chief Financial Officer of St. John’s School and Chief Operations Officer of St. John’s Parish, which encompasses the School. He will be responsible for the management of all of our church and school facilities.
Michael has over twenty years of experience in operations and program management for the government and corporate sectors, both domestically and internationally. This experience includes managing the White House Africa Education Initiative where he built and refurbished schools in 27 countries. He has worked with various organizations including US Agency for International Development, Department of State, the United Nations, the Brookings Institution, and many foreign governments. Michael has been responsible for the creation and management of a multitude of development programs, large research projects, and technology support contracts. He has proven to be able to transfer skills learned in Africa to the US and Tampa context and has developed strong relationships with local business, government, and community leaders.
Since 2005, Michael has been an active member of St. John’s. He is married to Keri Eisenbeis and they have two children, Emma and Simon. We hope you will join us in welcoming Michael to the St. John’s staff!
