St John's has had a Choir of Men and Boys since 1962. It is one of very few of it's type in the USA. The choir is open to residents of the Tampa Bay area, regardless of religious affiliation. The choir sings the 9:00 a.m. service on a Sundays, and uses English Cathedral repertoire, with music drawn from as early as the fifteenth century to the present day.
The Boy Choristers rehearse before school on a Tuesday morning, from 7.30 - 8.15, and with the men on a Thursday evening from 6 - 8pm, as well as prior to service times. The altos, tenors and basses include both trained volunteers and professional singers.
The Choristers sing also for weddings, memorial services, and concerts, and visit other churches for concerts and services. Recordings of the choirs have been made over the years to raise awareness of the choir, and funds for the music program. In addition to guest appearances throughout Florida, the choir has journeyed as far north as New York, as well as undertaking foreign tours to the UK and France. A tour to England in the summer of '08 is planned.
