Today is the Fourth Sunday of Easter, known among the clergy as Good Shepherd Sunday. The images of Jesus and God as shepherds or sheep are profoundly powerful ones.

In today's Gospel story, we hear that the disciples do not recognize Jesus when he first appears on the shore. This calls to mind when Mary thought Jesus was the gardener after he rose from the dead and met her at the tomb.

When you leave here this morning, the very first words which you speak will have the potential to change your life—and, perhaps, the lives of those around you.
